Celestino Decaroli

Celestino Decaroli inherited from his grandfather Celestino not only the name, but also the wisdom in cultivating the challenging lands of the Piedmontese Baraggia. Cascina Marena, in Casanova Elvo, tells a family story that begins with his grandfather in the years preceding the Second World War. Aided by his brothers, he worked with strength and ingenuity to cultivate in that territory close to the Biella Alps, looking towards Monte Rosa, where the climate is harsher than in the Bassa Vercellese and the irrigation waters are colder. The Baraggia is the place where rice cultivation extends furthest north, where plants hardened by the cold give their best to produce grains with a high starch concentration, unique in texture and crunchiness. This family wisdom, first inherited from his grandfather and then from his father Francesco, will also be passed on to Celestino's son, also named Francesco. This is why Celestino's Carnaroli is so special, and Ecorì selects it for its "Classico" range. Gemma, Celestino's sister, runs the Ecorì shop in Vercelli and creates exquisite gift packages combining rice with other Made in Italy excellences.
